Wonders shall never end........
All-Star Church opened its doors to famous people in Nairobi on sept 23.The church will use a hall at the Laico Regency, a five-star hotel frequented by the who’s who in Kenya. The church wants to preach the gospel to musicians, actors, sports stars, top politicians and corporate chiefs.Churches mostly frequented by VIPs in Nairobi include Mavuno, Nairobi Pentecostal Church (Valley Road) and Jesus Celebration Centre (JCC).According to the senior pastor of All-Star Church Catherine Munene, the church is for “high-end Christians who cannot go to River Road churches.”When the church was inaugurated during the sept 23 Sunday service, top names in corporate and political world were part of the congregation.
They included former Kenya Big Brother contestant and now Ziwani county rep, Millicent Mugadi. Governor Evans Kidero was expected to attend All-Star’s first service but he was said to have attended the Sotokoto Marathon.
Pastor Esther Obasike led the opening service.All-Star’s Pastor Munene, told The Nairobian, “We are not looking for celebrities or hunting for them. But we are encouraging them to come as we are offering what is relevant.”
She also dismissed claims that she had been given the church hall for free by the Libya-owned hotel.
“We are paying a lot of money which of course I cannot disclose. Please don’t listen to rumours that could destroy my church. I know media houses destroy churches and if The Nairobian does this we will deal with you. We are very powerful,” she said as she invited the writer to attend one of her services.

“Government should rise up to its responsibilities to save the lives and properties of its citizens.”
The governor also added that anyone travelling on the Damaturu to Maiduguri highway, was taking a huge risk.

Kate Henshaw Reveals Why She Left Her Husband
The 42 years old attressis single again after she was married for several years. Below is what she said about her collapsed marriage:
I just decided that, ok, it didn’t work. Next, I had to move on. There is no need holding on to the past – no need holding on to something if it’s not working any more. There is no need flogging a dead horse since it is already lifeless. And when you decide to bury the horse, would you not leave the grave site afterwards? You would go now.
Anything that happens to you now, that sun would still set, another day would come. So, it’s your choice to either be part of the living or be in the grave yard.
And I choose to be alive, enjoy my life and smile at everything that is happening – good or bad. As long as God is with you, things would always be fine with you.
I’m not thinking about anything. At the moment, I’m facing my career. If it comes, fine. If it doesn’t come, that’s okay. It’s not the end of the world because I’m convinced that God loves me. Love has given me more than enough. I have the most gorgeous daughter in the whole world. That’s enough for me.

“I shave my head & shape my beard myself"- Banky W
In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, Banky W
reacted to being 10th place on Forbes List.He also
opened up on one thing people don't know about
him
Excerpts below
"I don’t believe very much in such things. Let’s
be honest, the real wealthy people are the
businessmen like Dangote and the politicians
(some of whomgot there by looting Nigeria).
They’re the ones with real money. This
entertainment business is too much hype. It is
more fame than fortune. So I’m not thrilled to
it and I don’t think any of us should buy into it
too much. I’d rather be wealthy and quiet than
famous and broke."
On what people don't know about him
I’m not sure how many people know this, but I
shave my head and shape my beard myself.
I’m my own barber. I’ve been doing it for
years. It started when I was in University and
didn’t have a lot of money, I learnt to maintain
it myself so I didn’t need to spend money on it
every week. And now I’m good at it so I’m my
own barber. I will probably open a barbershop
at some point.

The Highest Paid Nigerian Hip Hop Artistes And How Much They Charge
Award-winning singing duo, Peter and Paul Okoye famously known as
P-Square are the highest paid hip-hop artistes right now, ENCOMIUM
Weekly findings have revealed. The Okoyes are currently charging between
N9 and N10 million for a show within Nigeria.
Apart from information gathered from the source close to the duo, independent music promoters/artiste managers also confirmed this, declaring the Koko master, D’Banj as the second highest paid artiste. The DB Record boss charges between N6 and N7 million as a standard show fee.
“Before the split of Mo’Hits, it used to be D’Banj. When D’Banj was charging between N7 and N8 million, P-Square’s fee was N5 million”, a veteran music manager affirmed, adding, “Right now, it’s P-Square.”
The afro-pop king, 2Face Idibia is the third highest paid. Although, 2Face’s performance fee has not been consistent, it’s within N5 and N6 million.
Industry sources told ENCOMIUM Weekly that 2Baba, as he’s fondly addressed, easily adjust fees because of the love he has for fans. “I agreed that he’s the third because he loves what he knows how to do best than the money. He’s man of the people and he loves to reach out to the people. He’s always happy when he’s on stage.”
Star Boyz owner, Wizkid, who stormed the industry three years ago, rose to become the fourth highest paid music star, collecting between N4 and N5 million. Although, the Jaiye Jaiye artiste has not featured in any big show in recent times, he also told ENCOMIUM Weekly in a recent interview that he charges N4 to N5 million.
Female singer, Omawumi Megbele is the highest paid female star. She collects N3 million alongside some male artistes, including Flavour, Timayah and the rave of the moment, Olamide. Others are Darey Art Alade, Duncan Mighty, and Chocolate Music artistes, M.I and Ice-Prince.
The likes of Kukere crooner, Iyanya, Davido, Wande Coal and Tiwa Savage are in the league of artistes that go for N2.5 million, while D’Prince, Dr.Sid and one time highest earning artiste, 9ice collect N2 million respectively.
Aside artistes that still receive less than N1 million, Naeto C and Waje’s fee is N1.5 million.
“Basically, each artiste has a standard fee for gigs, concerts but for private parties such as birthday, wedding, etc, it varies. Some people would call for reduction simply because they are individuals, not brands. It depends on the artistes whether to accept or not. What I know is that it’s always fixed”, said an artiste manager.

Is it Black out for Blackberry?
Could it be all over for Blackberry? A mobile device that is still one of the best companions of upward mobile people in many parts of the world. How could its fortunes begin to experience a near blackout at twilight?
Last Monday, it announced, that it has reached a preliminary deal with one of its biggest shareholders, Fairfax Financial Holdings to take the company private for about $4.7 billion.
This deal also followed BlackBerry’s an embarrassing announcement, Weekend, that it had nearly $1 billion in unsold phones and would slash 40% of its workforce. Immediately after that announcement, its stock plunged from 17% to below $9, that day. Yet there were still rumours of bankrupsy hovering around the once robust outfit.
Blackberry has had slow pace of growth in recent times despite launch of Z10 and Q10 brands which were expected to have raised its market shares.
The Canadian insurance firm which it is now entering the deal with is a 10 percent shareholder in Blackberry and has already signed a letter of intent with the BlackBerry board under which it could pay $9 a share in cash for the 90% of BlackBerry shares it doesn’t already own.
However, the deal has not been totally completed because it is subject to six weeks of due diligence and Fairfax would still have to arrange financing. During this period, BlackBerry still has the right to change its mind.
The agreement also doesn’t compel Fairfax to ultimately come forward with a firm offer and technology experts said this underscores the weak negotiating position BlackBerry stands at the moment. BlackBerry, on the other hand, would have to pay a breakup fee of more than $150 million if it turns to another buyer by Nov. 4.
Technology business experts said that by publicizing a deal with a starting price, the company’s hope is to lure rival offers for part or all of BlackBerry.
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Andrew Pocock Reveals That No Nigerian would be asked to pay £3,000 For British Visa
The
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Andrew Pocock, has said no
Nigerian would be asked to pay £3,000 as fee for a British visa.
Pocock said this yesterday when he visited the Nigerian Stock
Exchange to ring the closing bell, and to discuss ways in which more
British companies can be encouraged to invest in the capital market.
He said, “The visa bond, as it is being called here, is not a £3,000
charge for a British Visa. That is not the case, it is not going to
happen now and it is not going to happen in the future. Visa fee, which
is what you pay for a visa, will not go to £3,000 or anywhere near it.”
Reports had emerged earlier this year that the British government was
planning to implement a new scheme under which some visitors from six
commonwealth countries, including Nigeria, would be asked to pay a
£3,000 cash bond in return for visitor visas that allow them to stay in
the UK for up to six months.
“In the long run, we are interested in a system of bonds that deters
overstaying and recovers costs if a foreign national has used our public
services,” an unnamed Home Office official had been quoted as saying in
June.
The development had resulted in an outcry by nationals of the affected countries.
Genevieve Nnaji’s Alleged Lesbian Lover Finally Debunks Accusation
Sometimes ago, Nollywood diva, Genevieve Nnaji was reported to be
allegedly involved in an affair with Benin Republic female actress, Ella
Martins.
Well, Ella has finally stepped out to debunk the story, saying Genevieve
and herself are just good friends and not lesbians as people think.
Here’s how she put it:
“Genevieve is a very good friend of mine, we met way back in 2004 and we have been good friends since then. The story that we are lovers must have come from another female friend of hers. I am saying this because since 2004, there have been no such lesbian stories but suddenly it sprung up.Towards the end of last year, I came to Nigeria and I stayed with Genevieve. Although we stayed under the same roof, we slept in different rooms. There was a time during my visit that we both went to see a friend in a hotel in Lekki and people saw us going in. We later went clubbing that night with the friend and which I think is a normal thing for girls to club if they want to. But that was when the rumours got worse, that we went into the hotel to sleep with each other!!!”
According to her, that wasn’t the first time the press would call her a
lesbian but, she’s learnt not to respond and bother about such nasty
stories about her.
“Genevieve and I have known each other since 2004 and she really is a nice person if you get to know her. We talk on phone a lot and we discuss life’s issues like normal girls do, she is a wonderful person.I guess it’s because she is a famous person that some undesirable elements want to tarnish her image and mine too. The Press make things worse too. There was a time I performed with Tony Tetuila and there were rumours after then that we were dating. But I just want to emphasize here that Genevieve and I are not in any form of sexual relationship, we are just good friends”

Check Out Kanye West's $2 million(N323m) Cars that can electrify paparazzi and withstand chemical attacks
Rich and famous Americans are increasingly choosing to travel in armoured vehicles with features life electrified doorhandles and sealed ventilation systems to protect against gas attacks.
Rap stars Kanye West and T.I. and actor Sacha Baron Cohen are among the jittery stars to have invested in armoured cars built, in many cases, to withstand even large-calibre ordinance.
An executive at one company catering to such security conscious clients says that demand in the U.S. has soared particularly in the past five years, as inequality has risen after the banking crisis.
Overkill? A Latvian-made Prombron Iron Diamond, two of which have just been bought by Kanye West
Jason Forston, vice president of Texas Armoring, credited 'the climate of fear right now — the growing gap between the haves and the have-nots' for the surge in sales.
His firm strips vehicles back to the bare bones and installs not only armour plating, but also gadgets like electrified door handles to discourage carjackers and over-zealous paparrazzi.
Security conscious: Rapper Kanye West recently
splashed out on two Prombron Iron Diamond armoured cars costing around
$1.2million each
Mr Forston told The Hollywood Reporter that a 'large part' of his customers are 'celebrities, pro athletes and rock stars', but they also have many buyers who are 'people not in the spotlight'.
Many stars, particularly those involved in the gangster-fetishising mainstream rap music industry, may be mindful of the fate of Christopher Wallace.
Wallace, better known by his artist name Biggie Smalls, was leaving a Vibe magazine party Los Angeles party in 1997 when a car pulled up beside his his. Its driver opened fire, spraying the door of Wallace's Suburban with 9mm bullets.
The star was hit four times and killed. He was just 24 years old.
Memories of Wallace's fate, and the explosion in carjacking after the LA riots five years earlier, have been among the best advertising for armoured vehicles. But there is no denying they are also an ostentatious status symbol.
One of the most extreme examples is the Prombron Iron Diamond made by Latvia's Dartz Motorz, the same company that built Sacha Baron Cohen's gold-plated presidential SUV featured in The Dictator.
Kanye West recently ordered two Iron Diamonds at a staggering cost of $1.2million (£750,000) each, car website Jalopnik reported.
It's not only specialist manufacturers who are meeting the demand. Bentley, BMW and Mercedes, among others, all quietly make armoured versions of their upmarket vehicles.
BMW boasts that its 7 Series High Security not only offers 'an unforgettable driving experience' but is also 'designed to meet the highest protection standards'.
As well as being able to withstand high-velocity, armour-piercing rounds, the car is equipped with run-flat tyres and sealed ventilation to keep the air inside fresh while all around are dying from chemical gas.
Meanwhile, San Antonio-based Texas Armoring has custom built bulletproof vehicles for the likes of Steven Seagal and T.I.
But are all these features necessary? Aaron Cohen, director of Hollywood's IMS Security, which secures the homes of many high-profile celebrities, thinks not.
'Statistically, with the exception of a few cases, I don't think there's a need for it,' he said, adding that much of what the cars come equipped with is 'overkill'.
But Robert Siciliano, a New York-based security consultant, disagrees. He pointed out that a 25 cent bullet will penetrate a non-armoured vehicle 'pretty efficiently'.
For stars earning many millions of dollars a year like Kanye West, then, spending a fraction of that on an armoured car doesn't seem like that silly.
He added: 'I bet Biggie Smalls' mum wishes he had
Gov. Adams Oshiomhole sues magazine for N250m over sex allegation
Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole on Monday dragged News of the People, a soft sell weekly magazine before a Benin High Court, asking for N250m as damages, for alleged libel.
Oshiomhole, in suit No B/556/2011, against Dockland Communications Limited, publishers of News of the People
magazine, alleged that the content of a material published by the
magazine in 2011, on the front page and page 19, with the headline,
‘Oshiomhole’s sex power exposed: Impregnates young girl six months after
death of wife’, libeled his person.
He further alleged that the defendant, among other
things falsely wrote that he bought the said girl a jeep, that he was
interfering in the academic activities of Ambrose Alli University,
Ekpoma, on behalf of the girl, that he used sexual performance
enhancement drugs and that he had performed traditional marriage rites
precedent to marriage between him and the said girl.
Oshiomhole, whose suit is before Justice (Mrs.) Efe
Ikponmwonba, alleged that the said edition containing the libellous
piece was widely circulated, to coincide with preparations for one of
his daughter’s wedding.
Asked by his lead counsel K.O. Igiebor why he was
demanding damages, the governor, who testified as Principal Witness 1,
said the publication caused him and his children psychological trauma,
six months after the death of his wife.
He said, “When I called a brother governor to sponsor
my daughter’s wedding, the governor said he was confused, and asked me
if I was the one doing the marriage or my daughter.
“He added that he was reading a magazine which said
that I was about getting married to a university student, and that the
said wife-to-be was already pregnant.”
Court Orders Shop Owner To Pay Rihanna £1m For Selling T-shirts With Unflattering' Image Of Her
Rihanna yesterday won a permanent ban on Topshop selling T-shirts (pictured right above) using her image - and an order that Sir Philip Green’s high street fashion chain must pay her estimated legal costs of almost £1million.
Topshop owners Arcadia Group were ordered by Mr Justice Birss at the High Court to pay £200,000 of this within 14 days, even though he found the size of her bill ‘startling’ and ‘somewhat surprising’.
The Chancery Division judge ruled in July that fans of the 25-year-old singer from Barbados, who was not in court, might have been deceived into thinking that she had endorsed the T-shirt.
Topshop had sold the garment - which bore an image of her taken from a
photograph - between March and August 2012. The judge said sale of the
T-shirt without her permission was ‘passing off’.
Rihanna also sought the return of any unsold T-shirts, but the court in Central London heard that all 12,000 had been sold - and only five were left and kept for the legal action.

Federal Government Withdraws Diplomatic Passports From David Mark, Aminu Tambuwal, Others
The Federal Government on Saturday ordered the withdrawal of all
diplomatic passports of National Assembly (NASS) members, including that
of Senate President David Mark and Speaker of the House of
Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.
No reason was given for the action, but sources said it was not
unconnected with the level of opposition the Presidency is currently
facing among the National Assembly members which got to feverish peak
last week.
The implication of the Federal Government’s action is that all 109
senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives would no longer
enjoy the special travel privileges the blue-coloured passport confers
on its holder when they travel abroad.
The withdrawal of the diplomatic passports of the senators and members
of the House of Representatives is coming barely 24 hours after the
Presidency sacked Senator Joy Emordi as its Special Adviser on National
Assembly matters.
Sources in a position to know the power play in Aso Rock told Sunday
Independent that even though it was the crisis in the ruling party that
necessitated the action, members of the opposition party in the Assembly
are also being affected.
With the loss of their diplomatic passports, the NASS members no longer
have immunity against arrest any time they travel abroad, a script, we
gathered last night from our sources, was the motive for the action.
